Geely Galaxy V900: New Hybrid Premium Minivan from China

 

The Chinese automotive group Geely officially opened pre-sales of its new Galaxy V900, a large hybrid minivan, on Wednesday, January 7.

 

The preliminary price of the model in China ranges from 319,800 to 389,800 yuan, depending on the configuration.

 

Just a few years ago, the premium minivan segment was dominated almost exclusively by the Toyota Alphard and Mercedes-Benz V-Class. Today, however, Geely positions the Galaxy V900 as a more technologically advanced and affordable alternative to these models. The vehicle is positioned as the brand’s flagship and is aimed at both family buyers and business-class customers.

 

As part of the pre-sale campaign, the manufacturer is offering three trim levels. The price range in China is 319,800–389,800 yuan, which is equivalent to approximately $44,700–$54,600, or about 4.0–4.9 million KGS at the current exchange rate.

 

 

Dimensions and layout

 

The Galaxy V900 belongs to the large MPV segment. Its body dimensions are 5,360 mm in length, 1,998 mm in width, and 1,940 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,200 mm. The interior is available in 6-, 7-, or 8-seat configurations, featuring a flat floor and a luggage compartment capable of accommodating up to 15 standard suitcases.

 

Design and interior

 

The exterior design draws inspiration from Airbus passenger aircraft. The minivan features rounded shapes and smooth lines, emphasizing its premium character while also improving aerodynamics. The Galaxy V900 retains the brand’s signature two-tone paint scheme, while the rear is highlighted by a full-width LED taillight strip.

 

The interior follows an “Airbus First Class” concept, with a strong focus on space, comfort, and premium materials. The six-seat version is equipped with 93 cm-long seat rails, allowing for flexible cabin configurations suited to various scenarios—from family travel to business transportation.

 

 

Powertrain and technology

 

The Geely Galaxy V900 is powered by an E-REV hybrid system, combining an extended-range electric drivetrain with all-wheel drive.

 

The minivan is equipped with a CATL Xiaoyao battery, providing up to 260 km of pure electric range under the CLTC cycle. With a fully charged battery and a full fuel tank, the total driving range reaches up to 1,220 km.

 

Comfort and positioning

 

Standard equipment includes air suspension, an electromagnetic damping system, and an extensive suite of advanced driver-assistance systems. According to Geely, the Galaxy V900 is designed to eliminate common concerns related to long-distance travel and charging, offering a level of comfort comparable to first class on an airplane — but on wheels.
